THE State 16s girls football team will have a distinct local edge to it when the players hit the field for the AFL School Girls Championships next week.
The Joondalup Falcons Women’s Football Club are sending six of their best to the Canberra championships among a WA group of 28 footballers.
Hannah Bebbington, Jessica Gorman , Kiona Vance, Kristen Jayasuria, Tarnica Golisano and Madeleine Vermeer fly to Melbourne on Friday before heading to Canberra for the week.
Falcons media liaison officer Rebecca Bebbington, whose daughter Hannah is in the side, said the team was expected to do well.
“They have selected a team really well– they’ve got a lot of really quick runners this year,” she said.
Ms Bebbington said Victoria was expected to be their toughest opponent.
The girls play in the WA Women’s Football League and are likely finals contenders in division one, where they sit fourth, and division two where they sit second.
