Falcons jumpers have multicultural feel

Soccer looms large as a significant threat to football in Perth’s expanding northern coastal corridor yet West Perth have borrowed from the rival sport as they prepare for their most significant match of the home-and-away season.

West Perth will wear short-sleeved jumpers inspired by British soccer for their international round match against Subiaco on Saturday. The clash of the league’s top two teams is expected to draw HBF Arena’s biggest crowd in nearly 10 years.

The Falcons have given away 60,000 tickets to the game as part of their strategy to sell football as a critical part of the community in a region in which nearly half of the residents were born overseas and a quarter came from Britain.

WEST Perth will follow the likes of AFL-club Hawthorn and the NBA competition when it replaces its sleeveless uniform with a one-off sports T-shirt for the WAFL club’s International Round clash against Subiaco.

The Falcons decided on a British theme for their annual commemorative guernsey in 2015, with the design resembling a rugby or soccer strip in heed to the district’s thousands of UK-born migrants.

Young Joondalup Women Flock to Wanneroo

Tha Falcons Youth Girls will test their strength this weekend at Wanneroo Showgrounds as they take on East Fremantle.

A partnership with the Wanneroo Amateur Football club sees the girls relocate to Wanneroo Show Grounds for a week playing at 11.30am Sunday 24th May, while the girls from the senior team take in East Fremantle under lights following the league game at 5.30pm today - Saturday 23rd May.

The two hour Live Life Ambassador session gives coaches and volunteers the ability to recognize if someone is showing signs of mental health issues and know how to approach the person along with where to direct them for help.

Matt grew up in and around the world of sport. From a young age he was playing both soccer and football at local club level. Matt chose the soccer path as an athlete however praises Gavin Bell, former West Perth Footballer for keeping his football passion alive through school football programs. Matt has a passion for coaching and is currently involved with Wanneroo City Football Club.
